Privacy without the fine print
Privacy Policy
Effective August 17, 2026
1. Our promise
Your family’s information belongs to your family. We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use family content for advertising, marketing, profiling, product statistics, or training AI models. We do not include third-party advertising trackers.
We use information only to provide, protect, and support heyfam, follow your instructions, and meet legal obligations. If we ever want to expand those purposes, we will explain the change clearly and ask for consent where law or this promise requires it.
2. Information we handle
We handle only information that you, your family, and the connections you choose give to the service:
- account details such as name, email, optional phone number, avatar, language, and protected credentials;
- family data such as member names and roles, events, to-dos, notes, documents, and settings;
- messages, emails, files, and metadata sent to the family inbox or through connected chats;
- minimal technical data needed for sessions and security, such as IP address, browser type, access time, and error logs;
- messages you send us for support or to exercise your rights.
3. How we use it
We use information only to:
- create and protect accounts, families, sessions, and invitations;
- show and synchronize information for authorized family members;
- receive messages and files, prepare drafts, and answer requests using AI;
- deliver requested email, summaries, and service messages;
- prevent abuse, investigate failures, provide support, and keep the service reliable;
- comply with law, enforce the Terms, and protect rights and safety.
4. AI and family content
When a feature needs AI, we send the provider only the content and context needed to carry out that request. heyfam does not use your content to train models or allow it to be used for advertising or marketing. AI results are treated as suggestions and, by default, items arriving from outside wait for review before becoming part of the family’s records.
5. When we share information
We share information inside a family with members authorized by its administrator. We also use providers that host data, store files, deliver email or messages, secure the service, or process AI requests. They receive only what is needed for that function and must process it for us, not for their own advertising or marketing.
We may also disclose information when law requires it or when reasonably necessary to protect someone, investigate fraud or abuse, or defend legal rights. If heyfam is involved in a merger, financing, or sale, information may transfer with the service subject to this policy and any additional consent the law requires. We do not treat that as a sale of data for advertising.
6. Services you connect
If you connect email, Telegram, WhatsApp, or another channel, that service continues to handle data under its own rules. heyfam receives and sends only what is needed for the connection you chose. You can disconnect optional channels in the app.
7. Children
heyfam is designed for an adult to manage a private family space. A child may not create a family independently. A parent or legal guardian may add a child and, if desired, give that child access under their direction. The adult confirms that they are authorized to provide and manage that information.
A parent or guardian can ask to access, correct, or delete a child’s information by emailing [email protected]. If we learn that a child supplied information without the required authorization, we will delete it.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep information while it is needed to maintain the account and provide the service. Removing someone from a family ends their access, but shared family items may remain for the other members. When you delete content or ask us to delete an account, we remove it from active systems within a reasonable period; temporary copies may remain in secure backups or records required by law.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including access controls and protected credentials. No service can promise absolute security. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe an account or family is at risk.
10. Your choices and rights
You can view and correct much of your information in heyfam, disconnect channels, and leave a family. You may also ask for access, correction, export, or deletion, or object to processing where applicable law gives you that right. Email [email protected]; we may verify your identity before acting.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post changes here with a new date. Before using existing information for a materially different purpose, we will give clear notice and ask for consent where appropriate. We will not quietly weaken the promise not to sell data or use family content for advertising, marketing, product statistics, or AI training.
12. Contact
For privacy questions or requests about your information, email [email protected].
